The small courtyard of an old bourgeois villa is now hoasting a young, fast developing society of alternative artists and intellectuals. Within the villa itself, people have been squatting for the past couple of years. Their presence and interest in the old edifice made it possible to keep this place alive and to improve it in so many ways. What started as a hip movement is now turning into a small enterprise, mostly supporting local underground community. Things got big, the garden needs a facelift !
The core element of this project is a structural grid unit that can be assembled and re-assembled according to every circumstance. Thin metal pipes are hold together in a cube-like grid with small metal casted connector parts. Multiple units can be put together, resulting abstract, sculptural shapes as well as structures with a well defined pragmatic use. This playful, highly flexible scheme is well suited for a relativly small space that has the ambition of being able to hoast markets, parties as well as exhibitions, conferences and all sorts of events.
