Rather than a traditional block, the proposal stacks all ingredients of a lively urban neighborhood connected by a continuous inner garden. The project aims to create a three-dimensional urban neighborhood where suburban life merges with the energy of a city.
The building creates an intimate interior courtyards encircled
by communal facilities available for all residents. The apartments
are placed at the top while the communal programs unfold at the
base of the building. The different layers therefore have achieved
a quality of their own: the apartments benefit from the view and
sunlight while the communal spaces merge with life on the street.
We have managed to use the size of the project to generate
differences in height that produce a unique sense of community,
including small gardens and pathways.
By merging two typologies we came up with a hybrid that picks
the best features from both - closer to human scale but also
creating a large community-oriented courtyard.
Enclosed courtyard creating a protected community space.
Green cascade terraces offering nice views for top floor penthouses.
The buildings curved siluhette provides good views for all residential units.
Inspired by citadells, the building has a soft, elegant facade towards the inside and a more solid, facade on the outside.
The buildings geometry allows it to be divided in 6 construction stages.
Every residential unit gets a great amount of light every day, even on 21 december.
Circulation has been stacked in perimetral cores, always towards the north while the unit accesses are grouped on several corridors, saving squaremeters.
The building has a highly dividable geometry, alowing it to be costumized in almost any way.
The boundary between the park and the new building is both
blurred and defined by foliage-covered rooftop terraces, which
emerge from the building’s rectangular form. The units are arranged
around a central void, which provides each residence with necessary
amounts of daylight and ventilation. in order to energize the site
throughout the day, the ground floor houses commercial spaces open
to the public, activating the edge of the plot.

This manipulation not only allows for a more organic expression, perfectly reflecting the surrounding landscape, but also provides a way to accomplish the building topography in a controlled and inexpensive way through the use of prefabricated units of standardised sizes .
Core - Units Relationship
Each future inhabitant will be able to choose from a wide palette of residential units in order to find the one that perfectly fulfills his or her needs. The design provides residences to people in all of life’s stages through its flexible housing units, including apartments of varied sizes, penthouses and townhouses. One of the buildings features is a high level of flexibility in terms of unit subdivisions. The divisions shown above are ment to serve as a division option, as well as a potential inspiration for the futer stages of subdivision studies.
